Association of Physicians of Pakistani descent in North America (APPNA) – Lifetime Achievement Award

Professor Adnan Mansoor has been honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA) – Alberta Chapter. This prestigious accolade celebrates his extensive career and significant contributions to the medical field, particularly in hematopathology. With over three decades of dedicated service and research, Professor Mansoor stands out as a vanguard in the study and treatment of blood cancers, deeply influencing both academic and clinical practices.

Starting his journey with a degree from Punjab University, Professor Mansoor’s quest for knowledge took him to the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Pakistan and onward to renowned institutions like London’s St. Thomas Hospital and the National Cancer Institute at NIH. His pioneering work at NIH, especially in the development of genomic techniques, set the stage for his remarkable contributions to hematopathology, advancing the diagnosis and treatment of lymphomas. His scholarly output includes more than 160 research papers, reflecting his pivotal role in enhancing our comprehension of blood cancers.

As the head of the Division of Hematopathology and Transfusion Medicine at the University of Calgary, Prof. Mansoor’s leadership has been instrumental in its rise to prominence. He has fostered a forward-thinking environment that embraces state-of-the-art technologies and promotes interdisciplinary research, significantly benefiting patient care and medical education.

His community service, particularly within the Muslim community, has been recognized with the Queen Elizabeth Platinum Jubilee Award, underscoring his dedication to societal well-being.
